KARTINI. Why is she a hero? There were some contraries on why she deserved to be a hero because she didn't literally took up arms to oppose the colonisers like the other national heroes. Some said she was known for her feminist belief, but I see her more of an outstanding female hero in globalisation. Does she even lead a war? Yes, she declared war with the society's stereotype that women have to live with no choice rather than to stay at home. They didn't have any chance to gain knowledge either. She fought against the ignorance of people in her era that women should be in the equal level, especially for education, just as men. 

She resisted to follow the mainstream mindset. Her strong determination and faith of bringing change to women's right made her different than any women in that era. She didn't abhorred new ideologies from the outside world and stay clear of it. In fact, she loved to learn new things. She loved to read. She loved to write. This is why I see her as a different kind of hero. 

She starved for education and she took a good advantage out of it. While Indonesia was still under the Dutch colonisation, she learnt to speak Dutch and she used it for communicating by writing letters to them, concerning about women emancipation in Indonesia. I adore her braveness to stand out and speak out her logical and open-minded thinking back then, while there are still a lot of people nowadays refuse to have such willingness to learn and being antipathetic to new things without sorting it out like it's always a bad thing. 

She was one modern woman living in the past. Thank you for being inspirational. You might not bring a gun or kill hundred of troops, but you with your own unique way, sure have defeated foolishness, you encouraged us to have better education and open a door for thousands of women to be  be inspirational just like you. :)
